Albus Severus is a liar.

| history First child of the famous Harry Potter, James hasn't exactly had the most ordinary of lives, even if it was a good deal more normal than his father's. Lighter hair and a strange throwback of eyecolor aside, he still looked enough like his dad to be dangerous and made the most of it whenever he could all through school. Of course, the effect was that he acted hardly like his dad at all, really taking more after his namesakes with a slight Weasely flair. It really was convenient that his uncle owned the best joke shop in all of Wizarding London... He always did well enough in school--not the top of the class but far off the bottom as well. Never really had his dad's flair for DADA, but he didn't need to either. Deft enough at Transfig, got by alright in charms and didn't kill himself, at least, in Potions. Really, all that was superfluous. What he loved was Quidditch. He'd landed a Chaser spot on the Gryffindor team in his third year and that had been that. A love affair to last a lifetime. He did finish up in school and all. Took his NEWTS, did passingly well on them, but it wasn't what he cared about. He was going to be a professional Quidditch player if it killed him (an idea that his parents were unfairly worried about. They'd gone head-to-head with a Dark Lord, Quidditch was nothing next to that sort of thing!) His dream was to play for the Caerphilly Catapults. They'd been the first team his dad took him to see when he was kid and the love of the game and the team stuck, despite Uncle Ron's protests for the Cannons. And Caerphilly wasn't too far from Godric's Hollow, he'd be close enough to home. Wasn't like he'd be going all the way up to Portree after all! And one of their chasers was getting up there, she'd be retiring soon and he was just biding his time until that happened. By biding his time he meant testing brooms for Nimbus, a bit of work at Quality Quidditch every now and a again, living at home. Neither of them payed well enough to get a proper flat right off and he wasn't about to ask for help. Of course all that was before he and Al had managed to banjax an illicit portkey meant to take them to see the Nundus. Really, it wasn't his fault, but now he was a good 15 years out of time (or so, maths were never his thing) and an ocean out of place and trying to make his way in muggle New York. Least it wasn't England, really, he vaguely recalled the whole Ministry being a bit of a mess over there, it being what, not that long after the fall of Voldemort and all. That took about an age to sort out. He might run into himself! Not that he'd have realized, but still. At least he had Teddy around. Well, and Albus and his Slyherin best buddy, Scorpius, but they didn't count so much. He'd looked up to and followed around after (though he wasn't admitting either) Teddy Lupin all his life. He was like a best friend and a big brother all rolled up in one shape-changing brilliant package. If he had to be caught out like this, best do it with someone he trusted and cared for, right? Still, it'd do in a pinch. | |
